Course Description:
Students will learn the basics of web design, development and publishing including how to design and program a web page, how to set up a site and publish it to the internet, on a hands-on environment, students will design web pages using HTML and Dreamweaver CS3 software, create simple graphics and be exposed to design technique principals. In addition, students will publish to a web server and analyze web site functionality.
Course Outcomes:
Demonstrate the ability to develop an individual, non-text guided multipage web site using a development tool like Dreamweaver CS3 incorporating introductory principals of good content, use of text, composition, color, layout, coding and publishing.
Course Outline
Week 1: Introduction to the development of the World Wide Web, HTML, Overview of Dreamweaver, creating a simple text pages and insert keywords.
Week 2: Web servers and Web Browsers. Working with simple graphics, page layout, links and Hexadecimal color codes.
Week 3: Introduction of XHTML, XML, Creating Links
Week 4: Creating Tables and dynamic Web site using multimedia on the Web, audio files, movie clips.
Week 5:Using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Week 6:Ading User Interactivity with behaviors and usability test, validation, forms and buttons.
Week 7: FTP, PUBLISH IT TO THE INTERNET Site Management
Course materials: Textbook with CD is highly recommended.
